Hi everyone. Last Sunday (10th ish) we both caught a ’48 hour’ cold which, for Dawn, took a week to go and I’m still suffering, manfully. My guys would rugby tackle a prospective customer, these guys hide. However, in fairness, once he’d had a good look down Ray’s shirt, his interest piqued, so much so his manager joined them. They were hamming it up and making sure they got their rear views in the mirror as well. The manager homed in on Dawn who explained her husband could get Fleet rates. Bloody pantomime. A little disappointed, he eventually offered Dawn a good deal, but she said she’d just phone me as I was at a Portsmouth branch looking on her behalf (I was in the kitchen prepping the curry). She leant over the desk to ’speak quietly’ to me, Ray swears one complete boob was on view, the manager, transfixed, offered a deal closer and threw in a load of extras. She closed for all she was worth.. Job done. What gullible creatures we men are!! I’m no different.

I really was feeling rough but still met the girls at the pub for a drink, (just your average hero) and a light lunch. The pub was busy so the girls made their way to the bar, where they were accosted by a group of local lads, perfectly affable, especially after seeing the wedding rings, but they still had a go. (So would we, wouldn’t we?). They had a couple of drinks, Ray tried to insist on buying a round but they gallantly refused. In the morning I got up, still not feeling great, went to my bedroom. The girls were still in bed, awake, naked and kissing (a horny sight). I told them breakfast in half an hour, I’d call them down. Hi Skoot, I posed this question to Tony, who has been in aviation for around 30 years and is currently a Captain in BA. His view was 'availability and comfort' away from home plus of course 'pilots are good breadwinners'. However, the biggest predators were business and First Class passengers, 'especially the one's staying in the same hotel'. I just commented 'lucky bastard' and he gets the big bucks as well. Thanks for the question Ocean. Just an observer. I am very curious about the LS - ethical non monogamy. I wondered how could a couple endure this type of a relationship, wouldnt there be jealousy, humiliation, anger, so on. After reading many of the posts in this website I am convinced that this LS requires a very strong marital bond, trust and love. Now the term ENM seems to have gone mainstream.

Venus: You made a short query - Here's a long winded response, apologies, but I hope it helps. I pondered your comments overnight, much food for thought. My story will be, I'm sure, similar to other couples on the forum, who, on the whole have been very kind, honest and helpful.

Dawn and I have been together 25 years (never a cross word - I daren’t interrupt. haha), my feelings are as strong as ever, but I guess life, familiarity, my attention has become more relaxed. Her controlled/Victorian (mother) upbringing is on record in this thread, added to early motherhood and family duties probably created what I can only describe as a creeping numbness an acceptance. Well the bond is very much there, but the yearning for freedom rose to the surface.

Sometimes in a relationship one partner forces the issue, not always the man, perhaps with veiled or inferred threats of kicking over the traces. How many couples break up, then realise the grass…? Bitter regrets and loss. I have, like you, observed the LS from a distance, for some years. I have 2 friends who have told me are in LS for quite some time, and they appear to be thriving.

I found writing about these experiences of great therapeutic value, an outlet if you like. As ex-forces where accurate reporting is vitally important, I can promise you that this thread/journal is absolutely truthful. The ups - and the downs.

In our case, Dawn was the instigator. The hurt was palpable. Jealousy, anger, humiliation - yes I felt them all. I had to suppress them ‘while she got this out of her system’. Little did I know how much this would develop. Frankly, she became almost out of control and not a little reckless. After a few discussions, experiences (and slip ups) she took heed and we are where we are.

It is a lot of fun (now), her breadth of risk and experimentation has surprised me, but she’s fine. Dawn has a very sharp mind, but quite manipulative as can be evidenced by the guys/gals she has jumping through hoops, amusingly all think they’re having an illicit affair with her, without my knowledge. Thankfully sharing Ray and Tony has been a lot of fun. That’s another thing - women? Where did that come from?
